Jenny Knipfer–Author

Best-selling Christian historical fiction author, Jenny Knipfer, shares her books, inspiration, thoughts on life and writing, and book reviews. Purchase Jenny's books, read her blog, or listen to encouraging podcasts, highlighting the life of a writer.

My first inspiration and challenge for writing Under the Weeping Willow sprung from a question: what would it be like, as a daughter, to have a strained relationship with my mother? And what would be the driving force behind it?

On Thursdays on social media, I’ve been sharing a quote from my newly released historical fiction novel, In a Grove of Maples. Today, I thought I’d give my blog followers a glimpse into my Thursday excerpts.

Do you enjoy reading books that are written, in part, through diary entries, or letters? If so, you’ll enjoy my upcoming novel, In a Grove of Maples. One of my main characters, Beryl Massart, keeps a diary. Each chapter opens with a diary entry of hers dated from the future, so readers gets a taste for what is ahead in the story and keeps them turning the pages.

How does it begin, the act of writing? With discipline and inspiration. Sometimes I have both of those before I open my iPad and write a blog post, a chapter in a novel, a poem etc . . . Other times, it’s one or the other.

Today as a part of The Coffeepot Bookclub, I am happy to feature Ropewalk: Rebellion. Love. Survival.

I have not read this book, but it sounded good and am happy to share about it here. I have it on my “to read” list. Being a part of the Coffee Pot Book Club is a pleasure, and I have discovered so many wonderful historical fiction books through the club.

When you open my books, you won’t find perfect, sinless characters. You’ll find those who are living amidst harsh circumstances or who face the temptation to walk an easier and perhaps more pleasurable path than what they have vowed to travel.

Learning to let go dominates a part of my life, but we all must choose to release things and sometimes people, for various reasons.

I approach the end of an enormous effort, in November 23rd the last book in my series, By the Light of the Moon, will be released.
